Basketball Game Preview: Chisum Mustangs vs. Winnsboro Raiders

Chisum is 1-8 against Winnsboro since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Chisum Mustangs will be playing at home against the Winnsboro Raiders at 6:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Chisum took a blow against Rains, falling 85-41. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1050th, while the Wildcats are ranked 52nd).

Meanwhile, Winnsboro entered their tilt with Prairiland on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They blew past the Patriots, posting a 75-22 victory. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Winnsboro pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points per game. As for Chisum, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Chisum took a serious blow against Winnsboro in their previous meeting back in January of 2020, falling 74-22. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Chisum was down 52-4.
