Baseball Recap: Fargo South Triumphs

With a playoff win on the line, Fargo South rose to the challenge on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Mandan Braves. For the Bruins, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Braves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Caden Nelson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Fargo South is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 9-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Matt Byrant was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Cameron Bevill also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Fargo South's win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Mandan, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7-1.

As of now, neither Fargo South nor the Braves have any future games scheduled.
