Basketball Recap: Rio Grande City Takes a Loss

Rio Grande City lost against Nixon back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rio Grande City Rattlers had to suffer through a 75-39 loss at the hands of the Nixon Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Rattlers have suffered since December 20, 2024.

Nixon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Uli Torres out in front who went 6 of 7 en route to 14 points. Another player making a difference was William Palumbo, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 18 points.

Rio Grande City's defeat dropped their record down to 22-12. As for Nixon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 25-9 record this season.

The future could be bright for both Rio Grande City and Nixon: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Rio Grande City will try to hand Roma their third-straight loss when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Nixon will look to extend Juarez-Lincoln's 21-game losing streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
