Softball Recap: Neptune Gets the Win

Neptune won the last time they faced Long Branch and things went their way on Monday too. Neptune blew past Long Branch 17-6.

Kadidja Braxton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Braxton was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Cassidy, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Sophia Forgach, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Neptune always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Long Branch only posted an OBP of .250.

Neptune's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neptune will challenge Rumson-Fair Haven at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Long Branch, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Liberty at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
