Basketball Recap: Liberty Tree Academy Takes a Loss

Liberty Tree Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Kiowa Indians 56-18. The War Eagles were down 45-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Melody Pruitt was Liberty Tree Academy's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Pruitt also led the team in rebounds with seven.

Deb Flipse was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 18 points and 17 rebounds for Kiowa. Flipse also grabbed seven steals, which is notable because Kiowa is undefeated when she posts at least five steals, but 5-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Sage Massey, who went 9-for-22 to rack up 18 points and five assists.

Liberty Tree Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Kiowa, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.

Liberty Tree Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 49-33 defeat against James Irwin on the 21st. As for Kiowa, they have also already played their next matchup, a 49-5 win against Dolores Huerta Prep on the 20th.
