Basketball Recap: Mifflin Comes Up Short

Mifflin lost to Lincoln back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Punchers had to suffer through a 77-45 loss at the hands of the Lions. While losing is never fun, the Punchers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 540th, while the Lions are ranked 161st).

When it comes to explaining why Mifflin lost, don't look at Myles Jarrett. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points and five assists. Another player making a difference was Nashawn Mitchell, who had 11 points.

Mifflin has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Lincoln, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mifflin won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Punchers will be up against the Stars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.33 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Lincoln, they will take on Grove City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
