Baseball Recap: Rancho Cucamonga Falls to Citrus Valley in First Game of Season

Rancho Cucamonga kicked off their season on the road on Wednesday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Citrus Valley Blackhawks by a score of 7-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2022.

Rancho Cucamonga saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Peyton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Peyton has posted since back in March of 2024.

The win got Citrus Valley back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Rancho Cucamonga will challenge Ramona at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Citrus Valley, they will be taking part in a tournament against Villa Park at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Citrus Valley has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
