Basketball Recap: San Juan Broncos vs. Montezuma-Cortez Panthers

San Juan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 64-50 to the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers. The Broncos were down 50-28 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Montezuma-Cortez was led to victory by Sariah Jackson and Kalea Ogo. Jackson went 9 of 19 en route to 18 points along with seven steals and five assists, while Ogo almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals. With that strong performance, Jackson is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Whited, who posted 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

San Juan now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Montezuma-Cortez, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

San Juan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 68-33 loss against Panguitch on the 13th. Montezuma-Cortez and Grants will compete for holiday cheer at 12:00 p.m. on December 19th.
