Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Grant

Grant waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Newaygo Lions by a score of 9-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 on Wednesday.

Logyn Hansen made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Grant let Kinley Skrabis and Payton Shoemaker run wild. Skrabis went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Shoemaker went 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. That's the most doubles Shoemaker has posted since back in April. Alaina Roeters was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Grant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 9-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Grant's win bumped their record up to 18-12. As for Newaygo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-11.

Coming up, Grant will be playing in front of their home fans against Cedar Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Newaygo has already played their next matchup (against North Muskegon), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
