Softball Game Preview: Bay City Blackcats vs. Bandera BULLDOGS

The Bay City Blackcats will face off against the Bandera BULLDOGS at 12:50 p.m. on Friday. Bay City will be strutting in after a win while Bandera will be coming in after a loss.

Bay City took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Terry, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Bay City came out on top in a nail-biter against Terry on Friday, sneaking past 4-2. The victory continues a trend for the Blackcats in their matchups with the Rangers: they've now won three in a row.

Rachel Castillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Bay City saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ameris Huerta, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Huerta a new career-high in hits (three).

Bay City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Bandera was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Ganado, falling 13-0. That's two games in a row now that the BULLDOGS have lost by exactly 13 runs.

Bay City's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Bandera, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
