Baseball Recap: Mayfield Takes a Loss

Mayfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 18-3 to the St. Mary Vikings. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 14-1 to the Vikings when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mayfield saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jett Hawkins, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Carson Price also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Mayfield's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for St. Mary, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mayfield will host Livingston Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mayfield is facing Livingston Central at the right time seeing as Livingston Central is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for St. Mary, they will be playing at home against Ballard Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
