Basketball Recap: King & Queen Central Takes a Loss

After flying high against Carver College and Career Academy last Tuesday, King & Queen Central came back down to earth. The King & Queen Central Royal Tigers were outmatched by the Mathews Blue Devils and fell 86-48. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 80-60 back in January.

Despite the loss, King & Queen Central still got an impressive performance from Gerard Hill, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 11 boards. That was a full 50% of King & Queen Central's points, marking the eighth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ayden Gibson, who scored 15 points.

King & Queen Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Mathews, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7.

King & Queen Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-46 victory against Charles City on the 10th. As for Mathews, they have also already played their next contest, a 69-66 defeat against Northampton on the 7th.
