Western Plains came into Friday's match looking for another win against Northern Valley, but Gavin Thalheim wouldn't allow it. The Northern Valley Huskies walked away with a 48-40 victory over the Western Plains Bobcats on Friday thanks in part to Thalheim, who went 9 of 17 to rack up 23 points in addition to six boards and six steals. What's more, he also posted a 53% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Owen Hammond, who posted seven points along with 14 rebounds and three steals. He is becoming a predictor of Northern Valley's success: when he posts at least ten boards the team is undefeated (and 1-12 when he doesn't).

Northern Valley's win bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Western Plains, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4-1 record this season.

Looking ahead, Northern Valley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cheylin at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Western Plains, they are taking a road trip to challenge Tescott on Tuesday.
