Softball Recap: Griffith Institute Comes Up Short

Griffith Institute dropped their record down to 5-2 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Alden Bulldogs by a score of 14-13. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (ten), the Griffins still had to take the loss.

Grace Ricci made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Riley Kamats was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

As for Alden, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Griffith Institute: they've now won five in a row.

On Alden's side, Sawyer Faso was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and one triple. That home run was Faso's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Eberth, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Griffith Institute will face off against East Aurora at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Alden, they will square off against Tonawanda at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Timberwolves at the right time seeing as the Timberwolves are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
