Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Coronado walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Mission Hills Grizzlies 3-2. The win was familiar territory for the Islanders, who have now won eight matchups in a row.

Coronado took Mission Hills into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-18, 19-25, 25-22, 15-10.

Mission Hills lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ethan Hunt, who had 24 digs, six blocks, and two aces. Another player making a difference was Noah Buhler, who had four digs and two aces.

Coronado pushed their record up to 24-11 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Mission Hills, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-10 record.

Looking ahead, Coronado will take on El Cajon Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mission Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
