Baseball Recap: Pope County Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hardin County, Pope County was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Webber Trojans a 5-0 shutout.

Ian Bremer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Connor Bucher was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Pope County's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Webber, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Pope County will square off against Cobden at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Webber, they will take on Odin/Patoka/Sandoval at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
