Baseball Recap: Jefferson Find Success

Jefferson proved they can win big on Monday (they won by nine) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Beamer Titans 11-9. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won six in a row.

Jordan Ardoin and Uzziah Maldonado-Manzo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Ardoin pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Maldonado-Manzo struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Ardoin has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ardoin went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Maldonado-Manzo got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run. What's more, Maldonado-Manzo posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March.

In other batting news, Myles Myers was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Jefferson is 7-3 when Myers posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ikaika Frank, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Jefferson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Beamer, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Jefferson will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Titans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
