Baseball Recap: Peru Extends Winning Streak to Four

Peru waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Whitko Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won ten contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Gavin Eldridge was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Reis Bellar, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Peru was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Peru's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Whitko, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peru will challenge Lafayette Central Catholic at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Whitko, they will square off against Prairie Heights at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
