Basketball Recap: Lakeland Christian Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Fort Wayne Canterbury last Tuesday, Lakeland Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Lakeland Christian Academy Cougars came up short against the Whitko Wildcats on Tuesday, falling 48-27. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-6.

It was another big night for Jayma Stonebraker, who posted seven points and five assists for Whitko. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Stonebraker, who put up six points.

Lakeland Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Whitko, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Lakeland Christian Academy Cougars duke it out with the Lakewood Park Christian Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lakewood Park Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Lakeland Christian Academy likes a good challenge. As for Whitko, they will take on Wawasee at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Whitko is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.4 points per game this season.
