Baseball Recap: Conroe Takes a Loss

Conroe had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 16-7-1 to make it five. They fell 3-0 to The Woodlands Highlanders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 on Tuesday.

As for The Woodlands, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 25-4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

For The Woodlands' part, the result came thanks to Erich Daigle's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks. Daigle has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, The Woodlands secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Brady Breedlove, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Conroe is set to square off against their familiar foe Cleveland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, The Woodlands will challenge rival Oak Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Highlanders 1.7, the War Eagles 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
