Baseball Game Preview: Borah Lions vs. Capital Golden Eagles

The Borah Lions will take on the Capital Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Borah took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Mountain Home 14-1. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Lions this season.

Jack Meimann looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits.

At the plate, Borah let Tate Kubena and Brady Robinson run wild. Kubena went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Robinson scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most RBI Kubena has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Dennis, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Borah always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Capital was able to grind out a solid victory over Boise on Wednesday, taking the game 5-2.

The team relied heavily on Preston Christianson, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Wyatt Call also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Borah's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Capital, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Borah has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Capital struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
