Football Recap: Hermitage Starts Season with Win at Home

Hermitage took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Matoaca Warriors 38-0. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Panthers had established a 26-point advantage.

Hermitage's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Breon Bonner, who rushed for 55 yards and one TD. Bonner showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 52 yards.

Hermitage's run defense was locked in: Matoaca could only muster 3.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Dillan Webb for the heroic effort on defense: he. Hermitage didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.4.

Despite the loss, Matoaca still got an impressive performance from Kush Phillip-El, who rushed for 81 yards on only five carries.

Looking ahead, Hermitage will head out on the road to face off against Henrico at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. As for Matoaca, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Benedictine at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
