Baseball Recap: Lake Ridge's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Lake Ridge can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Mansfield Tigers 2-1. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 7-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Lake Ridge got a great performance from Kayden Mansell as he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Mansell also tossed a walk, which is notable because Lake Ridge is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-8-2 otherwise.

At the plate, Lake Ridge's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Preston Willick, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Lake Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 3-9-2. As for Mansfield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-4-1.

Lake Ridge will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mansfield: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
