Softball Game Preview: Donegal Indians vs. Hempfield Black Knights

The Donegal Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Hempfield Black Knights at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Donegal will be strutting in after a victory while Hempfield will be coming in after a loss.

Last Friday, Donegal earned an 11-6 win over Middletown. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Meanwhile, Hempfield didn't have quite enough to beat Central York on Monday and fell 9-8. The loss put an end to the Black Knights' undefeated start to the season.

Jenna Ernst was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Khloe Rodriguez was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Hempfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hempfield fell to 2-1. As for Donegal, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Donegal skirted past Hempfield 4-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2015. The rematch might be a little tougher for Donegal since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
