Game recap: Lapeer East High School Football Team defeats Swartz Creek

LAPEER, Mich. - After five lead changes, Lapeer East (Lapeer, Mich.) took the lead for good when they ran for a touchdown with 3:00 left in the third quarter and held on to beat Swartz Creek (Mich.) 35-21 on Saturday.

The Dragons pulled ahead on a touchdown, and subsequently went into halftime leading 14-6. The Eagles scored the winning points with a touchdown run that came in the third quarter.

The victory was a completely different match up compared to last season's game between these two teams, which Swartz Creek took, 42-6.

The victory was a step in the right direction for Lapeer East, which was coming off a 10-7 defeat at the hands of Fenton in its previous game. The defeat comes as a step back for Swartz Creek, which notched a 42-28 victory over Brandon in its previous outing.

Lapeer East (4-3) will play a Flint Metro game against Linden next week, while Swartz Creek (4-3) will take on Fenton also in a Flint Metro game.
