Basketball Recap: Nash Fiedler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Shore over Melbourne

West Shore lost against Melbourne back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The West Shore Wildcats lost to the Melbourne Bulldogs on the road by a 59-42 margin. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 478th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 151st).

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nash Fiedler, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Beau Couture, who posted 14 points and three steals.

West Shore has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Melbourne, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.

West Shore didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-50 loss against Palm Bay on the 17th. Melbourne has also already played their next match, a 57-52 defeat against Viera on the 17th.
