Decatur Central has gone a perfect 4-0 against Pike recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. Decatur Central has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Decatur Central managed to slip by Whiteland the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hawks came up short against the Warriors on Wednesday, falling 19-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hawks have suffered against the Warriors since May 4, 2022.
Ashyr Lawson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 5-for-5 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. Charlie Baldwin was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Pike was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 26-20 to Indianapolis Arsenal Technical. On the bright side, the 20- run performance marked the Red Devils' highest-scoring match to date.
Pike got a massive performance out of Lilianna Richardson, who went 3-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Leah Taylor also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Pike's defeat dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Decatur Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Pike's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Decatur Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Pike, though, as they've been averaging 9.9 hits. Given Decatur Central's sizable advantage in that area, the Red Devils will need to find a way to close that gap.
