Gideon and Bernie are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2017, but not for long. The Gideon Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Bernie Mules at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Gideon sitting on three straight wins and Bernie on five.
Last Thursday, Gideon got the win against Malden by a conclusive 3-0.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-8, 25-17.
Gideon's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Haley Skinner, who had 11 digs, and Emma Johnson, who had four digs and two aces.
They weren't the only good server: Gideon was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in ten consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Bernie was able to grind out a solid victory over Portageville on Thursday, taking the game 3-1.
Bernie had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-14.
Gideon is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Bernie, they pushed their record up to 10-6-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
