Basketball Recap: West Columbus Vikings vs. East Columbus Gators

West Columbus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the East Columbus Gators. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gators apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Jaden Troy was his usual excellent self, putting up 26 points and eight rebounds for East Columbus. Another player making a difference was Adrion Jenrette, who posted eight points.

West Columbus' loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for East Columbus, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10.

West Columbus won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Heide Trask at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Heide Trask knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully West Columbus likes a good challenge. As for East Columbus, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge Pender at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
