Basketball Recap: Dimond Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, Dimond faced Bartlett in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Dimond Lynx had to suffer through a 71-41 loss at the hands of the Bartlett Golden Bears. The Lynx were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Dimond had strong showings from Kinsey MacDonald, who posted ten points and seven boards, and Evan Hamey, who went 5-for-12 on her way to 10 points.

Bartlett was led to victory by Kennedi Gaines and Harmony Jenkins-Foster. Gaines put up 28 points in addition to seven steals and five assists, while Jenkins-Foster almost dropped a triple-double with 17 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Gaines has scored at least a third of Bartlett's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Lealaisalanoa, who had nine points and seven boards.

Dimond's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Bartlett, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 16-2.

Coincidentally, Dimond and Bartlett will both be playing Chugiak the next time they take the court. Dimond will head out to face Chugiak at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Bartlett will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
