Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Elgin/Pope John's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Elgin/Pope John won the last time they faced Stuart and things went their way on Friday too. The Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack strolled past the Stuart Broncos with points to spare, taking the game 51-36. The Wolfpack pushed the score to 39-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Broncos cut but never quite recovered from.

Elgin/Pope John found their leader in sophomore Braelyn Martinsen, who posted 24 points. Madelyn Kurpgeweit was another key player, putting up ten points.

Elgin/Pope John has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Stuart, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-4 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elgin/Pope John will square off against West Holt at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Stuart has already played their next contest (against Valentine), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
