Basketball Recap: New Covenant Christian Starts Season with Loss at Home

New Covenant Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. The game between them and the Mount Calvary Christian Chargers didn't end well, with the New Covenant Christian Flames falling 77-61. The Flames were not able to make up for their loss to the Chargers from their previous meeting back in January.

New Covenant Christian lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Grant Canakis, who went 5 of 7 en route to 13 points. That's the most points Canakis has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexander Hart, who posted eight points.

Josiah Masters was a one-man wrecking crew for Mount Calvary Christian as he put up 34 points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Hughes, who had 17 points.

New Covenant Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-50 defeat against Lititz Christian on the 6th. As for Mount Calvary Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 79-56 loss against Schuylkill Haven on the 6th.
