Baseball Game Preview: Bamberg-Ehrhardt Red Raiders vs. Wagener-Salley War Eagles

The Bamberg-Ehrhardt Red Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Wagener-Salley War Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Wednesday, Bamberg-Ehrhardt came up short against Orangeburg Prep and fell 4-1. The Red Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Wagener-Salley owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over North.

North's batters probably weren't too happy with Channing Smith, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 17 Ks (he gave up a single walk). What's more, Smith gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Dylan Bevell was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Gavin Starnes, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Bamberg-Ehrhardt's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Wagener-Salley, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-7.

Bamberg-Ehrhardt took their victory against Wagener-Salley when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bamberg-Ehrhardt since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
