Baseball Game Preview: Chester Clippers vs. Chichester Eagles

Chester is 0-10 against Chichester since March of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Clippers will take on the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. Chester has given up an average of 18.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Chester is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Berks Catholic on Thursday. They came up short against the Saints, falling 20-2.

Meanwhile, Chichester waltzed into their match last Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Buccaneers by a score of 8-3.

Julian Sparks tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Alex Kester and Logan Werley did most of the damage at the plate: Kester went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Werley scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Werley a new career-high in doubles (two). Cole Sanford also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Chichester was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .407 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Chester's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Chichester, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Chester has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Chichester struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Chester suffered a grim 24-0 defeat to Chichester in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Clippers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
