Basketball Recap: Pineview Christian Takes a Loss

If Pineview Christian was riding high fresh off their 85-16 takedown of First Assembly Christian last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pineview Christian Warriors were outmatched by the Evangel Christian Lightning and fell 89-59. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Lightning are ranked 89th).

Evangel Christian's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Gobel, who went 6 for 10 en route to 13 points and three steals. Those 13 points gave Gobel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Dixon, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 13 points and three blocks.

Pineview Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Evangel Christian, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-4.

Pineview Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Evangel Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mt. Pleasant Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Evangel Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Mt. Pleasant Christian likes a good challenge.
