Baseball Game Preview: Blacklick Valley Vikings vs. Shanksville Stonycreek Vikings

Blacklick Valley will venture away from home to square off against Shanksville Stonycreek at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Blacklick Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Shanksville Stonycreek's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Windber hit Blacklick Valley with a four-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings fell just short of the Ramblers by a score of 6-5. It was the first time this season that the Vikings let down their fans at home.

Meanwhile, Shanksville Stonycreek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Turkeyfoot Valley Area.

This is the second loss in a row for Blacklick Valley and nudges their season record down to 14-3. As for Shanksville Stonycreek, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Blacklick Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Shanksville Stonycreek in their previous meeting back in April, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blacklick Valley since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
