Recap: Mancos Bluejays vs. Cedaredge Bruins

The Mancos Bluejays entered their tilt with the Cedaredge Bruins with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Mancos walked away with a 61-54 victory over Cedaredge on Tuesday. Given Mancos' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Cedaredge is ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mancos' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Jaime, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. Jaime is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Chris Medina, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Cedaredge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Logan Tullis. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Brooks, who scored nine points.

Even though they lost, Cedaredge were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Mancos pushed their record up to 4-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Cedaredge, they have fallen quite a ways from their 18-4 record last season and are now at 1-5.

Mancos is on the road again on January 11, 2024 and play against Ouray at 4:30 p.m. on January 11, 2024. After both having extra time off, Cedaredge and Plateau Valley will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Plateau Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Cedaredge likes a good challenge.
