Softball Recap: Cane Bay Takes a Loss

If Cane Bay was feeling good fresh off their 17-2 takedown of Goose Creek last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cobras fell just short of the Stratford Knights by a score of 9-8 on Monday. The Cobras were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Kayleigh Christmas was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlet Reed, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Cane Bay has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Stratford, their record is now 7-2.

Coming up, Cane Bay will head out to challenge West Ashley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Stratford, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Berkeley at 7:00 p.m. The Stags' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
