Baseball Game Preview: Mattamuskeet Lakers vs. Columbia Wildcats

Mattamuskeet is 2-8 against Columbia since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Lakers will head out on the road to square off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Mattamuskeet is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Friday. They lost 9-1 to Cape Hatteras.

Mattamuskeet saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Lewark, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Columbia entered their contest against Hobgood Charter on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wildcats fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 12-10. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mattamuskeet's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Columbia, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Mattamuskeet might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from Columbia when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Lakers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
