Basketball Recap: Eagle Pass Takes a Loss

Eagle Pass played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 59-25 loss at the hands of the Medina Valley Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1107th, while the Panthers are ranked 408th).

Medina Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tori Ruffin led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. That's the most points Ruffin has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kyla Carter, who posted 13 points in addition to eight steals and seven boards.

Eagle Pass has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Medina Valley, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-11.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Laredo LBJ the next time they take the court. Medina Valley will head out to face Laredo LBJ at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Eagle Pass will host them at 7:00 p.m. on December 17th.
