Not much got past Regen Mazura, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Catalina Foothills off the board. Mazura has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Canyon del Oro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Carson, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Casa Grande made easy work of Maricopa on Thursday and carried off a 15-7 victory. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Matt Villa, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Rogan Hansen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Casa Grande kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Canyon del Oro's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Casa Grande, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Canyon del Oro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Casa Grande struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
