Basketball Recap: Central Jersey College Prep Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Carter Staton and Lucas Chouloute

Central Jersey College Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 60-50 to the Manville Mustangs. While losing is never fun, Central Jersey College Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Manville is ranked 76th).

Despite the loss, Central Jersey College Prep had strong showings from Lucas Chouloute, who posted 12 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds, and Carter Staton, who put up 23 points. The contest was Staton's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ranveer Singh, who had eight points.

Even though they lost, Central Jersey College Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Central Jersey College Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Manville, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Jersey College Prep has already played their next contest (against Warren Hills Regional), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Manville will square off against Pompton Lakes at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
