Basketball Recap: Coeur du Christ Academy Takes a Loss

Coeur du Christ Academy played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Lakeside Knights, falling 93-50. The Saints were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-29.

Coeur du Christ Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ben Connelly, who went 9 for 20 on his way to 21 points in addition to five boards and four steals, and Grant Clemens, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points. That was a full 42% of Coeur du Christ Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aedan O'Neill, who had six points.

Even though they lost, Coeur du Christ Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeside only pulled down six offensive boards.

Preston SpottedHorse continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lakeside, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 13 assists. With that strong performance, SpottedHorse is now averaging an impressive 17 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Hallah Peone, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine assists.

Coeur du Christ Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2. As for Lakeside, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Coeur du Christ Academy will host Mullan at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th. As for Lakeside, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-60 victory against Wallace on the 14th.
