Baseball Recap: Valencia Comes Up Short

If Valencia was feeling good fresh off their 9-2 takedown of Highland last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jaguars came up short against the Belen Eagles on Tuesday, falling 22-11. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in March.

Pryce Henry made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Noah Vigil, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Valencia dropped their record down to 9-12 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Belen, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valencia will welcome Grants at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Belen, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against St. Pius X at 6:00 p.m.
