Football Recap: Athens Christian Piles Up the Points Against the King's Academy

Athens Christian got themselves on the board against The King's Academy on Friday, but The King's Academy never followed suit. They blew past the Knights 29-0. The Eagles were shut out 12-0 the last time they took on the Knights, so the Eagles were just returning the favor.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Athens Christian's defense and their four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Josh White and Conner Zwirn, who racked up all four sacks between them. Zwirn has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last nine times he's played. Martin got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the loss, The King's Academy still got an impressive performance from Jaxon Bone, who rushed for 147 yards while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 44 receiving yards. Bone was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards.

The victory got Athens Christian back to even at 4-4. As for The King's Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Coincidentally, Athens Christian and The King's Academy will both be playing Lakeview Academy the next time they take the field. The Knights will head out to face the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Eagles will host them at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
