David Gonzalez put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Adon Herring was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. Micah Herring was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Glades Central got the win against Inlet Grove on Wednesday by a conclusive 17-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.
Like Atlantic Christian, Glades Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Edison Cruz. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Cruz a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Glades Central got a massive performance out of Osmany Rodriguez, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Christopher Leon, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Glades Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .742. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Glades Central's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Atlantic Christian, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Atlantic Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Glades Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Atlantic Christian's way against Glades Central when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Atlantic Christian made off with a 17-5 victory. Does Atlantic Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Glades Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
