Softball Recap: Winona Comes Up Short

Winona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 17-1 to the Malakoff Tigers.

Winona's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Malakoff, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5-1 record this season.

Winona will welcome Grand Saline at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Grand Saline's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Winona's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Malakoff, they will challenge Edgewood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Malakoff 2.7, Edgewood 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
