Basketball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Sonoraville's Fifth in Last Six Outings

After losing to Coahulla Creek the last time they met, Sonoraville decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Sonoraville Phoenix snuck past the Coahulla Creek Colts with a 62-58 win on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Phoenix.

Several Colts players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andrew Russell, who went 6 for 7 on his way to 13 points. The dominant performance gave Russell a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Waelyn Baliles, who posted seven points and 15 boards.

Sonoraville has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season. As for Coahulla Creek, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-7.

Sonoraville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 65-64 loss against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe on the 21st. As for Coahulla Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-58 defeat against Union County on the 22nd.
