Basketball Recap: High Point Academy's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to 15

High Point Academy came tearing into Monday's matchup with 14 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 74-69 victory over the Easley Green Wave. Given the Grizzlies' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Green Wave are ranked 86th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

High Point Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chonci Miller out in front who went 8 for 11 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. Those 21 points gave Miller a new career-high. Breylen Pertell also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first rebound of the season.

High Point Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Easley's loss came despite strong showings from Ethan Crews and Miles Campbell. Crews went 12 of 26 en route to 30 points and six boards, while Campbell went 6 for 14 on his way to 19 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. Crews' afternoon made it 16 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Drey Jackson, who posted eight points and six assists.

High Point Academy's record now sits at 17-2. As for Easley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.

High Point Academy will face off against Upstate HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Easley has already played their next contest (against Hillcrest), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
