Basketball Recap: Hayward Takes a Loss

If Hayward was riding high fresh off their 91-68 takedown of Spooner last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hayward Hurricanes were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 68-67 to the Lakeland Thunderbirds. The defeat continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now lost eight in a row.

Hayward's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Lakeland, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9-1.

Hayward and Lakeland could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. Hayward will challenge Barron at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday down 209 places (354 vs. 145). Similarly, Lakeland (ranked 308th) will meet Wausau West (ranked 73rd) at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
